Walpole …..

Posted by mervfrench on January 29, 2010

This shot was taken  from the town jetty at Walpole on a recent January evening . Walpole  is a great little town and we stayed in a nice  B&B  overlooking this inlet as a break from the camper .  When I woke the next morning at first light and looked out of the window there was a nice mist over the water and surrounding hills.

Did  I jump out and race off to get a great shot of the misting morning ….. no I pulled the doona up and went back to sleep.  Not too often where we live do we get the chance to pull up a doona in January and I wasn’t going to miss the chance.

Spring is still springing but this weekend will test it as it is going to be pretty warm.  Nice time for those of you near the water to head down to the beach I suppose , but I’m staying out around the hay  to see what happens and to catch the fever.

So here’s a spring time shot to contemplate  over the weekend.

This came out better than I thought it would as it was rocking around in the breeze quite a bit.

Sunset Lake with no name.

Posted by mervfrench on October 5, 2009

This is a shot of a local lake not to far from me taken a couple of months ago now.

Seeing as there were a couple of great  lake shots put up by both David and Mark they reminded me of this one so  I thought I would throw another one into the mix.

This lake is nameless and salty but it has beauty on it’s side I think.

Another spot I must get back to as there is a bit more water in it this time of the year but I bet the mozzie’s are still thick in the air.

Real Live Pin Cushion

Posted by mervfrench on September 28, 2009

Driving down the York Williams road late Friday evening and  we shot past this guy .

Only just managed to spot him on the side of the road and I wasn’t real sure that it was an echidna but I had to have a look.

By the time I pulled up , turned around and went back he was almost gone. I had the 70-200 on and no time to change  a lens as he wasn’t hanging around. I laid down on the side of the road next to him , it was hard to find a spot because there was a bit of water laying around.

It was nearly dark so this is the best I could get in a hurry. When I’ve seen one of these in the past  they have  rolled up in a ball and stayed there for ages, but this guy just had one thing on his mind and that was to bolt to the nearest ant’s nest.
