Bear .

Say hello to Bear.  I was out at a shearing shed yesterday and  Bear the dog was earning his keep  yarding and pushing up sheep in 43deg heat.  When the pace slowed a little, Bear took the opportunity to hop into the water trough for a cool off.

Meanwhile inside the shed the shearers were working in 45 deg heat  just as hard as ever.  But they did knock off at 4.30 instead of 5.30  and had a well earned beer …….. or 2.

  1. Go beat go!

    Cool looking dog mate!

  2. Great shot mate. I love the fact that they just work so hard and can’t get enough.

I heard of them selling for $5000 but around $750 to $1500 seems about normal. The good old Aussie Kelpie can handle the heat well and are top class dogs. Border Colllies are excellent but have a little trouble in the heat and if they are long haired they have a problem with grass seeds in their coats.

The iconic brown dog, nicely captured. It’s amazing the way they’ll jump off a ute and run for miles instead of sitting back for the ride. The brother-in-law had a long-haired border collie which was the best dog they ever had until it got bitten by a snake – used to have a hell of a time with grass seeds between it’s toes.
