Hard Work.

Posted by mervfrench on October 27, 2011

Another one from the Royal Show.  This was at the shearing competition, something that I love to watch.  I used to shear sheep in a former life so I appreciate the skill and hard work involved.

We used to call ourselves  ” manuel fibre removers “

There’s nothing much more Australian than sheep shearing.

Take That !!!

Posted by mervfrench on October 27, 2011

One from the Royal Show a couple of weeks ago. The show offers some great photo opportunities and is a good fun day out.

I went along twice and shot a lot of images that I’m yet to sort through.  You know what it’s like  …. it all takes time.

Rains Coming.

Posted by mervfrench on October 26, 2011

There has been quite a bit of rain about in the last week or so. It has done no good at all to any hay that has been cut and laying on the ground unfortunately.

It has helped the wheat crops but  from now on rain is not going to do anything as the crops are ready to turn off and harvest is not far away.

This was shot out Cunderdin way as a rain storm was approaching.

Canola Swaths.

Posted by mervfrench on October 25, 2011

This was taken over  a week ago, the same night as the sunset below.  Behind me after I shot the sunset I thought these rows of freshly swathed Canola looked kinda nice.

I’d forgotten about these shots until I put the card back in tonight and saw them so I decided to stitch it up and see how it came out.  There was a real smokey haze around that night as you can see.

Little Green Tractor.

Posted by mervfrench on October 17, 2011

Still on the hay theme, what else it’s hay time out here, I went out again tonight to have a look around.

When I was going through them tonight I thought I’d  try the tilt shift with this one.  Not perfect but I kinda like it.

Forecast is for showers tomorrow , not good for the hay but it might produce a decent sky.

Same Same but Different.

Posted by mervfrench on October 16, 2011

I went back to the same place as below tonight as it looked like the sunset may be ok.

There was a fire in the west as you can see by the smoke which helped the sun along a little.

The bales that were here yesterday have been picked up and bundled by machine ready to be carted to the sheds.

The Show

Posted by mervfrench on October 16, 2011

We had a day at the show this year which was pretty good as I hadn’t been for a few years.

There is a lot to shoot at the show and there were a lot of photographers wandering around. I have a few more to go through but this one stood out to me for a start.

Hay time.

Posted by mervfrench on October 16, 2011

Hay time in the Avon Valley and the  season has been a good one and the crops are heavy.  Shot this one last night after sundown after waiting for some color in the sky that really never came to anything.

Might go out again tonight I think.

Hodgy shot one earlier in the day from the opposite end of the paddock  see it here.
