Arum Lily

Posted by mervfrench on September 21, 2011

We were down south last weekend and the Arum Lilies are in flower  in a lot of places.

Originally imported from South Africa these rather nice looking flowers and their root stock are a serious toxic weed along creek lines and low wet areas in the south west  of Western Australia.

 Another good idea gone wrong.

Hey it worked! got nothing from the tests though apart from the famous ‘404 Error’ Page not found! I like the black around the lilly, really pops it out. Shame about it being up there with the fox, rabbit, watsonia & cane toad (etc)! It would make a great canvas print, cheers.

Nice shot Merv! Beautifully done. They are very pretty for a weed.

When I was a kid I lived in Narrogin but we visited Busselton a lot. Every year at the Narrogin Show there was a prize for the best Arum Lily. We always talked about picking some from Busselton where they were considered a weed, and entering them in the Narrogin Show!

    Nice looking weed 🙂

I know there is a group of volunteers who go around removing these offending pest from the South West.

  5. Hi Merv. Great shot mate. Never realised that were a nasty weed, I always though they looked really pretty, particularly on the drive out to Bunker Bay.

Nice shot – looks like it’s in a studio. Did you use your 5-in-1 reflector for this?? 😉 These things freak my mum out – she is not a “death lily” person.
