One Big Windmill.

Posted by mervfrench on June 28, 2011

I was out at Merredin yesterday and went past the Collgar Windfarm. The farm was recently commissioned  and is now suppling power to the grid.  It is hard to capture how big the wind farm is as it is spread over 13kms and has 111 wind turbines spread out and now operating. It is the largest wind farm in WA. This shot caught my eye as to me it shows the size of one of the wind turbines in relation to the surrounding area.  A long  aerial shot would be the only way to show the shear size of the area and capture all the wind towers.

There must be something good on TV.

Posted by mervfrench on June 20, 2011

Is it any wonder our TV picture goes on the blink from time to time.  On the farm these birds would have got a hurry up with a shot gun.

It usually scared them off then, but I usually had to get up on the roof and retrieve a couple of victims and it also peppered the aerial with holes as well.

Shot tonight with the 7d ( not the shot gun ) and 100-400 and they are Pink and Gray Galahs

Action shot.

Posted by mervfrench on June 18, 2011

This won’t mean much too many of you, if anyone.  This is a close up of  seeding tynes on a airseeder in action as it digs and places seed and fertiliser into the ground.

I think it is a rather cool action shot. I shot this driving beside the seeder in my ute and shooting out the window. The machine is travelling at 8 kmh.

What is this Alien thing ?

Well its a boomspray and I couldn’t resist a shot of this parked up  as I left the paddock tonight, so I dropped the little S90 onto my lunch box and shot it.

At it again ………

Posted by mervfrench on June 2, 2011

Well we had a bit of time waiting this morning so the planking subject come up again. We were all talking about the recent dismissals at a mine site for planking and well …… we drew straws and I lost.

We decided that seeing as we were all present, including the boss, there was no way we were all going to get the sack !!!!!

I think this could well be my last plank.

They wanted me on the top rail but I just couldn’t quite get the courage to try it and fail by falling 5 metres. I needed to wrap my legs around something.

You can’t beat a good plank to start the day I say.
