They are Eating Stones…

Posted by mervfrench on May 13, 2011

This was shot this morning  just north of Toodyay in the Avon Valley.  This is highly productive grazing country  … well it is in a normal year.

After last years poor rainfall and a couple of big wind events early this year the county is looking grim to say the least.

I don’t think I have ever seen the paddocks so bare  all thru the wheatbelt

Given a good rain this country here will green up in no time and be lush again.  We just need that one decent rain.

I saw the exact same thing the other day and wondered what the poor buggers were eating, sure is weird to see in the avon valley though.

  2. Shit, it is dry……..I’ve got some grass up for you mate!!!

After being in the Kimberley for the last 2 weeks I could not believe how green it was and how much grass is around. The cattle look really fat, its such a shame that we did not get some of the rains that the Kimberley had. Love the close-ups of the dog and lambs…

The Kimberly would look a lot better than this does at the moment. We’ve had rain in the last couple of days so it will change fairly quickly now.

  4. Any rain make it out your way today?
