What a marathon effort from  Michael Baldock and Andrew Cohen when on Tue 21st Dec  ( the longest day )  they run the Cape To Cape Track in Western Australia,  approx 130k’s in 19 hrs.  It was a pleasure to be involved and it was all done for a very worthy cause , The Fred Hollows Foundation.

On Mon night  The Fletcher twins , myself , Pete Hodgson, Mark Stothard , Jamie Nicolaou, Jamie Paterson and James Harrison met at the  Cape  Leeuwin lighthouse.  After a rare steak at the Augusta pub ( thats all you can get on a Mon night  apparently ) we went back to the lighthouse and headed off in different directions for a shoot.  I ventured off down to the point  below the lighthouse and  managed this one for a start.   The tip of the cape where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet, captured under a full moon.

He he…got you with that one eh!

The trick with night shots Merv is as Christian was eluding to….watch that historgram like a hawk and don’t trust the screen as it is bright against a dark background.

It is very difficult to over expose a night shot so you are better off holding the shutter open for longer to get more detail.

    Hope that helps!

Nice Merv – like looking through stained glass. Full points for spelling “Nicolaou” right (I’m pretty sure you’re the only one who has) and double points for remembering Jame’s last name!!

Looking forward to your take on the event. Bad luck about Christian making you get bogged and then bagging you for it hey.

  9. Hi Merv,

Awesome shot mate, absolutely love it. I didn’t even stop to think that we were standing where the two oceans meet. The clouds are really cool as well.

gee seems as though a good bogging hasn’t affected your editing mate, well done.

  11. Merv, you have to be congratulated on this………..Muzz hit it on the head, well done on spelling my surname right. Mark, you failed dismally in this area, just lucky you’re a nice bloke, men have died for less than that!!!! You got us all on this one Merv, I never thought of the Southern and Indian Oceans meeting here. Good capture. And there are photos of your bogging effort too!!
