Better Photography Awards.

This was one of my entries in the recent Better Photography Awards. I was pleased to get a silver award for it with 81/ 100.
I also received one other silver and two bronze awards with my four entries.
What does it all mean. Well nothing really , except they placed ahead of a lot of others so I was pleased with that, but I was not in the top 50.
In all there were 945 entries with 645 bronze awards 242 silver awards and 0 gold awards. No gold awards was a bit of a surprise I thought.
This is a shot of the Harvey Winery just north of the town on the SW Hwy.
There were some very strong entries in there that deserved their place.

That’s a really classy image Merv, congrats on your score and your award. Initially I wanted it to be symmetrical but when I set it up on the screen that way I wasn’t sure. I reckon it would look great against black rather than white too. Hope you’re going to post the others later on.

Nice pic of Wordsworths Winery there Merv!! Did you know that the winery is for sale? If you have some spare cash laying around you could buy it for a million or 2??!!! lol Its a gorgeous spot there, always wanted to get some pics there during autumn with the leaves dropping and all the roses that they have at the ends of the rows….but never did!!! Oh well!!! lol

I think there’s plenty of winery’s you could get for a million or two at the moment Donelle.

Not a problem Merv, I only remember it cause the company I used to work for supplied all the posts, wire and irrigation for them!! I spent plenty of hours mailing out invoices to Wordsworth Winery!! lol

Beautiful image and well deserving of the award Merv.
I entered 5 and got 4 Bronze awards, so I feel I am on the right track at least. First time I have ever entered anything, so I was quite pleased.

Nice work Merv, nice pleasing image.
It’s pretty sad though the state of affairs within the wine industry. Our beloved government and their MIS schemes. Just think of the money people received as 100% tax deductions for getting involved in these schemes, and then the government acted way to slow to stop them. They should never have been allowed to move into traditional faming ventures as far as I’m concerned, only tree farming. You only have to see how it has ruined a few farming industries along the way.

Golds are for seriously good shots, did I tell you I got one at the APPAS haha.
I think the colour of the clouds isn’t great. The sun has been up for ages so this colour shouldn’t be there. If you toned the whole image with this colour it might look better.

back to the drawing board Merv, try the toning thing, that blue sky is the culprit. It is making the orange cloud look out of place. I know I have done this myself many times.
p.s. cut and pasting is so last year!!! hehehe

Ok. I sorta thought that blue didn’t really fit in the overall image but thought what the hell and left it there anyway, I can see what you mean. Thanks for the comment, the advice is appreciated.
So you must have marked this one down and some of the other judges must have marked it up or I would have only received a bronze for this. 🙂
P.S. What’s the new cut and paste, a one word link ?

Congrats Merv, Nice Image, every time I drove past this winery going down south Id think One day ill stop and take a photo of it! now they built the forrest Hwy Its gonna be even harder haha.
